Day 0 — Why Streets of Edirne?
This is the first entry of a journal that walks Edirne street by street. Every entry follows the same shape so it stays honest and readable:
- Street / neighbourhood — where it is, where it runs from and to
- History — where the name comes from, what it has seen
- Today — shopkeepers, food, everyday life; real observations
- Notes — photos, sources, corrections
Why?
Most people who live in or visit Edirne know Selimiye, Kırkpınar and the fried liver. Very few know the back streets, the door knockers, the shops that closed, or the story behind the neighbourhood names. This site fills that gap.
Rules
- Every entry is about a street that has actually been walked; no desk research pieces.
- Every historical claim has a source; if not, it is marked as "hearsay".
- Additions and corrections are welcome — thanks to everyone who spots a mistake and writes in.
